
The Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited (GCMC) recently hosted a delegation from the World Bank and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition. This visit was an integral part of the due diligence process conducted by the World Bank’s Clean Cooking Unit, aimed at evaluating GCMC’s installed capacity to produce Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cookstoves for households across Ghana under the Energy Sector Recovery Program for Results (PforR) for National LPG Promotion Program
The assessment is crucial to the World Bank’s and the Ministry’s strategic initiative to expand the distribution of LPG cookstoves, aligning with the national goal of promoting clean energy usage among households and businesses in Ghana.
During their visit, the World Bank team, engaged closely with GCMC to understand its production capabilities. The management of GCMC, led by the Deputy Managing Director, presented an overview of the company’s operations and its role in enhancing the availability of clean cooking solutions in Ghana.
Following the presentation, the World Bank and Ministry officials were given a comprehensive tour of GCMC’s facilities. This tour provided them with firsthand insight into the production processes, standards, and overall capacity of the company.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the visit, recognizing it as a significant step toward ensuring that GCMC can meet the demands of the LPG cookstove distribution project. The GCMC team is hopeful for a favorable outcome from the discussions and assessments conducted during this important visit.
